AO VIVO: IMPOSSIBLE HAIR [us]
// POR FAVOR TOMEM NOTA QUE ESTE CONCERTO COMEÇA ÀS 23H00
// Estreia em Portugal de novo projecto de Baltimore e Washington D.C. com elementos de SPOON e ANDALUSIANS.
Impossible Hair is a rock and roll band whose are songs are short, hooky, and a little odd. Their influences include XTC, DEVO and GUIDED BY VOICES. The Hair is made of equal parts Baltimore and Washington D.C. Members are Joe Ryan, Jim Glass (BUTTSTEAK, THE LEE HARVEY KEITEL), Sammy Ponzar (ANDALUSIANS) and Roman Kuebler (ORANGES BAND, SPOON). The debut album, “What is the Secret of Impossible Hair” will be available April 1, 2009. // Is Impossible Hair a bunch of high-jumping chimpanzees? Shower-dwelling vampires? No, but they are primates, and they frequently jump around on stage like men possessed. In an age when it’s uncool to act stupid, this unabashed absurdity is not only credible; it’s necessary. // "Impossible Hair took the stage and delivered a powerful set of mod, danceable beats... Instrumentals were on point, hips were shakin, and this whole set found them lending the perfect block-party sound to the center of festivities." //

-bodyspace //

AO VIVO: PUBLICIST FEAT. IAN SVENONIUS [pt]
// You may recognize Publicist as Sebastian Thomson from other acts such as Trans Am, Weird War, and Dead Kids. He loves making music with his friends but he also loves to make music on his own. As he once said "I love making music with my friends but I also love making music on my own." Publicist exists somewhere between DC, NYC, and London, after Sebastian decided it's better to spend money on plane tickets than on rent. Publicist plays on the floor, not on stage, he is of the people and for the people. // Ian Svenonius is an American musician, notable as the singer and mouthpiece of various Washington, D.C.-based music groups including Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, and Weird War. Between his numerous projects, Svenonius has released more than 15 full-length albums and more than 20 singles, EPs, and splits. Svenonius is also a published author and an online talk show host. // "These songs represent the glorious collision of Trans Am and The Make-Up, though it's certainly not initial contact. Sebastian Thomson and Ian Svenonius have been making joyful noise together for some time as members of Weird War, but Publicist is Sebastian's baby, a solo drum and electronics project that focuses on the beauty of the beat. Brother Svenonius throws in his two cents on top of Thomson's polyrhythmic attack, and the listener wins." -rcrdlbl // "...while I was trying to find words to describe the Publicist sound, I think I should just quote some of the comments from his myspace, where people are like 'your funk is from another planet', 'cosmic sensation' and 'full on instant dance party' and that sums it up better than I ever could. About time for some space funk and putting the 'disco' back into 'discodust' after all! ... this is some of the freshest music I've found in ages." -discodust //

DJ SET: LA NUIT DES FOLIES FT. DJ AROMA [de] + HIGH-HI [pt]
// Aroma. DJ Aroma is a DJ, Producer, Liveact, Writer, Labelmanager of aromamusic and above all: she is an artist trying to find a way to live the music she loves . She says:“ I make music for the hips and for the mind, if I do not get the record I want to have I'll produce it, thats why I learned all that nerd stuff.“ Of course its electronic, minimal and really funky metropolitan berlinhouse. Enjoy to see that girl give some funk to the digital turntabels. // Deejay.de says she is a well known DJ from Berlin, Tendance voted her among the best 100 international Djs, De:BUG says Aromamusic is a great Berlin label truly connected to the underground, DJ Magazine says MPC Queen, Partysan says: her Album Berlin Zoo is really cool electronic wildstyle, with a large varity of sounds. John Aquaviva and Eric Prydz charted and played her productions. And if you want to get something from her from your local record dealer, she just did a great and sucessful Remix for Sven Wegner on the Hamburg based Kachelfunk label. //

AO VIVO: CAPSULA [argentina]

// In Buenos Aires, Argentina, a couple of lovers of dark and psychedelic rock 'n roll and punk-rock, decided to form a band that, in a few years, has become one of the most active spanish rock acts. They left their hometown Buenos Aires to set their headquarters in Bilbao, Spain, from where they have developed an intense and prolific career. So they have toured three continents, playing five tours in the UK, France, germany (including a perfromance at Popkomm '08 that made us know them and sign them), Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, South America and a USA tour (where they performed at Austin's SXSW '08). After their debut "Songs & Circuits" (Liliput, '07), this "Rising Mountains" confirms what that record already showed: the feeling of being in front of a true rock 'n roll band, where attitude and lifestyle are the main points along with passion for their music beyond hypes and trends and devotion for the good job done, with the urgency of living fast and exploring all the corners before it's too late. Their musical influences, The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, early David Bowie or Television are what make their live perfromances a true parade of sweat and adrenaline. To pack this energy onto the album, they have made it their own way, recording at home, Bilbao, and mixing at New York's NYHed Studios, where artists like Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have left an imprint, by the nads of Ivan Julian, guitarist of Richard hell and The Voidoids, and the man behind the sound of The Fleshtones, Heavy Trash or James Chance & The Contortions. Their live set includes visuals and a technological twist that makes them a unique case of futurist garage-rock also influenced by the southamerican underground rock. A second starting point for a band that will give no quarter. //
