“O que se pode dizer sobre os Sic Alps sem se soar largamente ridículo ou fumado?” - citando o paleio introdutório da editora Animal Disguise lá atrás na década, quando a banda arrancou para a fascinação do milieu rock bloguista que se seguiu. Um bafo intemporal de frescura envelhecida, com um calor e carinho vintage reintegrado para a contemporaneidade. Um garage-psych-rock para uma fúria pós-Y2K iniciado por Mike Donovan, Bianca Sparta (Erase Errata) e Adam Stonehouse (The Hospitals) por volta de 2004, mas composto actualmente por Donovan, Matthew Hartman (Cat Power, Coachwips) e Noel Harmonson (Comets on Fire). Chegaram à Drag City no ano passado, com a reedição do duplo LP ‘A Long Way To A Shortcut’, um falso greatest-hits aglomerando diversas edições passadas em formatos e tiragens menos acessíveis ou convencionais, e chegam agora ao Lounge em Lisboa para um sábado à pala de taina à la good vibes da cidade irmã San Francisco."

// Dois projectos singulares com a mesma formação, deslumbre para ver a dobrar. O singer-songwriter nova-iorquino Gary Levitt apresenta-nos Setting Sun, e Erica Quitzow dá uma ajuda no reforço instrumental. Na primeira parte, Quitzow interpreta as suas próprias canções, com Levitt a retribuir o favor. A sós ou em separado, uma coisa é certa: pop à margem tão sedutora e viciante assim não se via há muito tempo.

SETTING SUN: "Singer-songwriter Gary Levitt has a solid take on the balance between rural naif and urban hipster that's at the root of the current alt-folk scene, but for all the acoustic guitars and simple musical settings of the third Setting Sun album, he's no Devendra Banhart type of modern flower child. Levitt (who basically is Setting Sun, although Erica Quitzow, adds cello, violin, drums and vocals) has far more in common with Destroyer's Dan Bejar: the 11 songs on Children of the Wild use not only vintage psych and folk-rock as musical touchstones, but the melodramatic likes of Scott Walker and Hunky Dory-era David Bowie, as well as sophisticated '80s college rockers like Prefab Sprout and the Go-Betweens. Moods range from the giddy, strummy pop rush of "Overjoyed" to the whispered tension of "Not Waste," with room for the folkish delicacy of "Morning Song" as well as the trippy edge of the Beck-like single "No Devil Me No More," with the boyish charm of Levitt's vocals and the inventive melodicism of his tunes tying the whole thing together." - All Music Guide / "Incredibly well-crafted songs with a vocal that reminds me of Bright Eyes. "Novo projecto de Alberto Arruda (One Might Add, ex-We Shall Say Only The Leaves) dedicado ao minimalão celebratório, em estreia absoluta ao vivo numa formação de trio que envolve membros próximos da sua família e família propriamente dita. Como no duo com Ruben De La Costa, aqui mantém-se o apreço de Arruda pela manipulação freestyle do ruído, mas inscrito num universo clubbing que se vai ligando a vários momentos da história da dança das últimas três décadas. Depois de ter sido residente no Op Art no início da sua adolescência, é com o maior prazer que o vemos novamente dedicado ao seu grande amor – o bounce. // Power duo oriundo de Minneapolis, Minnesota, que pratica um rock solarengo entre o surf e o fuzz numa esplanada ao fim de tarde. Por vezes lembram os Black Lips se estes fossem (ainda) mais pop, mas eles preferem responder Shangri-Las e Muddy Waters. Uma estreia a descobrir de refresco na mão e sorriso escancarado.
